McGee Travel Tales is Exploring

I’m sorry to interrupt the beautiful adventures on Mount Rainier National Park. We are at a family reunion and road tripping. Honestly, I was so busy prepping and packing before we left that I didn’t have time to write much before leaving. The beauty of Washington state will be back next week. I am super

Pacific Northwest: Portland

After Powell’s City of Book and a great lunch with family we headed to the Saturday Market along the Willamete River. According to the family that we met in Portland, the market was smaller than it had been pre-Covid. As it was, there were still a lot of great vendors and the people watching was

Central Kansas: Road Trip Part III

This stop on the road trip wasn’t actually in Kansas but in Oklahoma. We stopped at Pops in Arcadia, Oklahoma off of Route 66. If you can imagine a soda flavor, they have it. Keltin and I aren’t big soda drinkers but we couldn’t resist creating our own six pack of interesting flavors. At night

Central Kansas: Road Trip Part I

Keltin and I had had a ton of fun exploring central Kansas but we wanted a few more adventures before getting home. Between a United States road atlas and a copy of The Kansas Guidebook 2 we mapped out our route home with some fun stops along the way. A GPS maybe able to tell

Central Kansas: Mushroom Rock State Park

Last year when we were in Fredericksburg Keltin and I visited Old Tunnel State Park and I thought that state park was tiny, man, was I wrong. As it turns out Mushroom Rock State Park in Kansas is smaller. This tiny state park is only 5 acres and free to visit. There is no really

Central Kansas: Coronado Heights

Just a few miles outside of Lindsburg is Coronado Heights. This park has a castle and a ton of stone picnic tables. The day we visited it was too hot to picnic as the table don’t have shade but the view from the roof of the castle is fantastic, a 360° of the surrounding countryside.
