Slow Down, Write a Letter

Before Christmas I talked about a new pencil store that opened near us recently: Graphite + Paper. And with the start of 2020 they began a quarterly pencil box and we have gotten a chance to enjoy it. This box is about more than just pencils though, it is meant to encourage you to write more and help you learn to do so better. A book was included in this box: The Art of the Personal Letter by Margaret Shephard.

When we received this book the world had not changed. Now, with everything being so different we are forced to slow down. A good way to do that is by writing a letter. It makes me happy to open the mail box to find a person letter rather than a bill or junk mail. The world is changing, people are changing. Now is the time to reconnect with old friends and to tell your family how much you love them.

If you don’t know who to write to or possibly want to find a pen-pal try the Shut In Social Club on Instagram. I found this Instagram through the Erasable Podcast (its all about pencils and journals). Now more than ever is the time for people to connect and to make new friends.

Stay safe, stay healthy. Thank you to those on the front lines battling this pandemic.
