Musical Review: Fiddler on the Roof

The 2019 Dallas Summer Musical season has come to an end but it ended with a fantastic show: Fiddler on the Roof. I took Keltin’s mom with me to the show and we both loved it.

TRADITION! The show begins with an introduction of the family roles of the community; the papas, the mommas. the sons. and the daughters. Despite the harshness of the world these character live in, they keep moving on and forward. And Fiddler is a more traditional musical, not every word is sung, similar to Hello, Dolly!

The show was a great with a fairly elaborate set and a wide variety of costumes. And the dancing in this show was fantastic. Fast paced fairly complicated. There is one scene at a wedding where some of the men dance with bottles on their heads. Most people don’t have that balancing ability when they are walking, much less when dancing.

Next time this show is in Dallas I’m taking Keltin with me. I recommend this show to fans of traditional musicals, those who don’t mind religious themes and for those who enjoy a show that makes you want to get up and dance with the cast.

It was much more that I expected. The performance was mesmerizing. “
