Tolkien Book Tag

I don’t do tags very often but I came across this one from Bookwormmuse and I had to participate because Tolkien, no other reason is needed.

HOW DID YOUR MIDDLE EARTH JOURNEY BEGIN?

My wonderful step-mom actually started reading The Hobbit to my sister and I when we were little. I remember loving the story then, seriously with dwarves, elves and a dragon. I was in heaven.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MIDDLE EARTH BOOK?

This is a toss up between The Hobbit and The Two Towers. I love The Hobbit as a whole but there are parts of Two Towers that I just love.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE?

The Two Towers extended edition. i just love the way that the Battle of Helms Deep was done. Not to mention that the friendship between Legolas and Gimili is expounded upon a bit more in the extended addition.

MOVIES OR BOOKS?

Books, always the books. Tolkien’s writing and descriptions are so rich and wonderful. That is not to say though that the movies don’t also hold a special place in my heart.

Smaug

WHO ARE YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTERS?

Aragorn and Sam. Frodo would not have got far without Sam. Both of them are wonderful characters. Aragorn as a leader and Sam as a hero.

WHAT MIDDLE EARTH RACE WOULD YOU BE?

Part of me wants to say an elf but in reality I’m probably more of a hobbit. But like Bilbo, I’m an adventurous hobbit that likes to come home at the end of the adventure.

BEST ACTOR/CHARACTER CASTING MATCH?

Half of these actors I can’t see as anyone else. I really love Ian McKellen as Gandalf; he always plays such epic characters and does it so well.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE IN MIDDLE EARTH?

I’d love to see everywhere but if I have to pick I’d visit Lothlórien and spend time walking among the mallorn trees that make up the golden wood and listen to the voice of Nimrodel on the river the bares her name.

Lothlórien

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE QUOTE FROM THE BOOKS OR MOVIES?

I love Sam’s speech to Frodo in Osgiliath.

That there’s some good in this world, Mr. Frodo. And it’s worth fighting for.”

I actually love the whole speech but this line is the best of it.

I’m not going to tag anyone but if you are a Tolkien fan please feel free to do this tag!
