San Francisco and Lake Tahoe Books and Bookstores

We recently went to San Francisco and a few other places in California. I intended to post the video first but we don’t have photos back yet. Because yes, we took a ton of film photos on both 35mm and 120 film. Yes, we do know how to develop photos but I have this habit of shooting my film +1 stop, which means not at the box speed (iso), which requires a different development timing and we didn’t want to risk that at home. Also, we need new developer chemicals, so we sent a lot of film off for development.

So while I chomp at the bit for photos, let’s talk books. I did not bring any physical books with me this trip. I know it’s wild. In my defense I had two ARC reads on my phone, so I wasn’t book-less for the first part of the trip. If you are interested in my ARC reviews, let me know! I did buy a number of books while in San Francisco. When we travel I love to pick up books about the location we are at.

Here are my rules:

• No books that are just history books
• Local authors are preferred
• Subject matter about the area is preferred
• No books I can easily get at home

I have not read all of these books yet. I am still working my way through them but what I have read I have enjoyed so far. Fun fact, all of the books I picked up are illustrated and all of these authors worked with the illustrators directly. And I think visual art is definitely something that is missing from adult literature. We don’t need every scene as a drawing but including images adds a bit of whimsey that I think we have lost as adults.
