Recently I posted a number of newspaper related pieces and they were working towards this zine. This is volume 3 of the Denton Writing Club zine Banned & Burned. I am extremely proud of how this project turned out. The writing, the layout, the images, the variety. Is it perfect? No. It is something worth being proud of being a part of? 100% yes.
Journalism has been almost a niche form of writing with all the online platforms out there. Everyone wants their name to be known and their voice loud. We are probably all screaming into the void. That being said, I think news writing is important because while the name attached is important, the unbiased story is more so. People deserve to get their information in as clear a way as possible without leaning or leading. I’m not sure that is always true anymore in the news. It is a sad fact of today’s media.
These news stories are works of fiction, mostly. The lessons they present though, may not be. You can decide. I’d love to know what you think in the comments. Happy reading.
