This prompt was to write about lesser known cryptids. I selected the Enfield Horror, and originally I wrote a short story working to compaire the beauty of the night to the terror of the monster. However, I didn’t like the story so I wrote something else.

Cryptids Lament

Horror, monster, cruel epithets
It’s not my fault
I was created like this
Made from dark dreams
To be a walking nightmare
To hold the pain
To be the visual fear
of humanity

They run from me
Though I hide in the dark
My voice makes them shiver
My cry makes them run
My pain, my loneliness
My dream is to speak
To converse with a
rational mind

This is meant to be an inversion of the typical cryptic story, the horror of being lonely and misunderstood because of how the creature is born. Let me know what you think in the comments! Happy reading.
