Foodie Friday: Dinosaur Cookies

This is really just a fun post and a PSA that you are never too old to make and decorate sugar cookies. For a Christmas stocking stuffer, Keltin picked me up some fun dinosaur and Bigfoot cookie cutters. I finally had a chance to use them recently and I might have gone a little wild with the colored icing and sprinkles.

I used a recipe from King Arthur Baking and it can be found here. All of these cookies were from a single batch of dough – 30 shapes and 8 or so little round cookies. This recipe calls for Fiori di Sicilia for flavoring but I don’t keep that and used vanilla extract instead as a flavoring, almond extract can also be used with or in place of the vanilla.

Baking and decorating something easy was a wonderfully creative outlet. These cookies were promptly devoured at writing club, which is honestly the best compliment a baker can receive. There are also so fellow dinosaur nerds in the group and they enjoyed the shapes as well. What creative things do you like to make? Let me know in the comments and have a great weekend.
