For a belated Valentine’s Day we decided to rent a Getaway cabin for a quiet weekend. This cabin outpost is about an hour and a half outside of Dallas, without traffic. With traffic, well, drive through Dallas at your own risk. Once out of the city the drive is pretty and open with pastures and trees.

To tell the truth we did not do a whole lot on this little trip. We napped, read, relaxed for the most part and there were a couple of competitive games of cribbage. Sometimes a weekend with no requirements on your time is the best.

All the Getaway outposts have a nature trail. The trails are really only marked where they cross the roads but for the most part are easy to follow due to being well used. There were a couple of places were the leaf litter hid the trail but it was easy enough to pick back up.

This was a great weekend and it was not long enough. Do you have a favorite place to escape to when you need to relax? Let me know in the comments. Check out Getaway here! Remember to leave no trace and safe travels.

Lovely photos, especially the night sky one. Huckleberry wine is delicious, sounds like a wonderful addition to a relaxing weekend.

Thank you! We had a lot of fun taking the night photos. The Huckleberry wine was good, not too sweet and a good reminder of summer on a cold winter night.
