I had been wanting to do a charcuterie board for a while as a fun date night for Keltin and I. Creating art before devouring it while watching a movie. We wanted to build our board right though and thus went to YouTube for help. We watched a few videos but my favorite is the one below.
We did do a couple of things differently, since this was just for us, I only got cheese I knew we enjoyed. This was a night for relaxation and not too much odd cheese experimentation. Something else we did to make it easier was buying pre-sliced meats and cubed cheeses. Our board is garnished with fresh basil leaves and flowers along with fresh picked thyme from our garden. My favorite combination was the round crackers with a thick slice of the fresh mozzarella with the fig spread.

Next time I want to add more seasonal fruit and maybe some dried orange slices. I will also add a small pot honey and maybe even some honeycomb if I can find some. The savor and sweet combination of cured meat and honey is delicious. I’ll also probably add a wider variety of nuts besides just walnuts.

Must Haves on a Charcuterie Board:
- Cured meats
- Cheese – they don’t have to be fancy
- Something Sweet – we had grapes and a fig spread
- Nuts
- Crackers
- Garnish
This was such a fun, simple date night and charcuterie/cheese boards are tasty and they can be tailored to specific tastes. What do you like on your charcuterie board? Have you ever made one before? Let me know in the comments! Have a great weekend!

Looks lovely!
