Colorado: Driving the Million Dollar Highway

This road, I’m not even really sure where to begin. The truth is I had to look up the actually name of the road between Ouray and Silveton – US-550 – but I’ve only ever know it as the Million Dollar Highway. This is a road that will make you pay attention – especially if you have never driven on it before. Cliff walls on one side with warnings to look out for falling rock and drops on the other side that will have the nervous driver gripping the wheel.

The drive is worth it though and so too are the towns that US-550 takes you to. Awe inspiring scenery that takes your breath away and leaves you staring and one of the few drives that you hope doesn’t end too soon.

There are a few overlook points that you can stop at and I recommend stopping at at least one to stretch your lets and enjoy the sites. All have fantastic views but some have some surprises too.
