We all have that one person that doesn’t need anything for Christmas, if they want something then they can buy it themselves. So what do you give them?
Personally, I make them something. For my Dad and Stepdad this is buttermilk pie and chocolate cheesecake (among other things). As good as those things are making baked goods for everyone on your list may not be feasible. Another gift thing that I’ve found is making drink mixes. These can be wrapped up cute and if you want to make them a little bit more adult by gifts a little taster bottle of Bailey’s or Kahlua.
Recipe Time
Homemade Spice Tea:
- 3 C. Sugar
- 2 C. Tang
- 1 C. Instant Tea
- 1 tsp. Cinnamon
- 1 tsp. Cloves
Mix all ingredient and seal in an air tight jar. To make mix a couple of tablespoons of mix (or to preferred strength) with 8 oz. of hot water.
**TIP** I don’t add alcohol to this recipe but if I did it would probably be whisky or an orange liquor.
Homemade Hot Chocolate:
- 2 C. Nonfat Dry Milk Powder
- 1/4 C. Sugar
- 1/2 C. Cocoa Powder
- 1/2 C. Powdered Non-Dairy Creamer
- Dash of Salt
Mix all ingredient and seal in an air tight jar. To make mix three-four tablespoons of mix (or to preferred strength) with 8 oz. of hot water or warm milk. If making with milk, heat it over a stove.
**TIP** When I have added alcohol to this I used Bailey’s Irish Cream. If giving as a gift, i use an 8 or 12 oz. mason jar and top with marshmallows.
If you want to turn your Hot Chocolate in to Spiced Mocha, add the below to the recipe above:
- 3 tbs. Instant Powdered Coffee
- 1/2 tsp. Allspice
- 1/4 tsp. Cinnamon
What if the someone is not a fan of the drinks above? Well you may have to actually buy them something. I’ll try and help you a bit there too.
If buying for a person that likes one of a kind jewelry and paintings check out The Pour Painter. These are made by a wonderful local Dallas artist.
If you have a reader on your list check out Book of the Month. I personally love this because it helps me find new authors and read the newest books by author I already love. Also, sometimes you can get books before the official release date, I was able to get Artemis at the beginning of the month instead of waiting for the 14th.
Something that is actually on my list this year is new perfume and my favorite is from Zodiac Perfumery. I took this perfume on a trip with me to China and I still associate this perfume with that fantastic experience. I first found this perfume at the Dallas Farmers Market, the owner is a vendor.
I hope these ideas help you with finding the right thing for everyone on your list. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
