By I have too many hobbies, too many things that I want to do. A lot of that involves writing. There is a historical research project I want to work on, there are other stories in my head but before I get to them, I need to finish the current one.
To that end, I am about 70,000 words in on my fourth draft. I may have said this before but it is almost a complete rewrite. There are bits and pieces from draft three that I reused but most is new. And the story is better for it. The primary plot and side plots are generally the same but, I think, better written and more believable. I’ve also included better character development this time round.
Recently I wrote the climax and now I’m working on the falling action and fallout from the events of the climax. If you don’t know this novel is a Greco-Roman inspired paranormal romance, set in a contemporary setting. The magic elements push the sub-genre from contemporary to paranormal. Please note, this is a **spicy** romance.
The myth I am using as inspiration is Pygmalion. This myth can be found in Ovid’s Metamorphosis. It is actually the story that My Fair Lady is based off of. If you are unfamiliar with the myth, you can read it here. This is not the translation I have but it is still a good one.
One of the fun things about wanting to publish a book, either traditionally or indie publish, is that you need a following. Marketing the story before it is even done. Yes, the idea is exhausting. Yes, it will be exhausting to do but damn it I’m going to be a published author. To that end, I have created a writing specific Instagram and have a number of things mapped out to share.
