The prompt that sparked this poem was we were given a random adjective and to write prose, story, or poem that came to mind when that adjective was said.

Enjoy my thoughts on what it means to be loving. Love well, write what makes you happy, and read everything.

Loving: adjective – warmly affectionate; fond

Loving glances
Warm embraces
Date nights 
Passionate moments
But loving someone
Is so much more

Quiet moments
Peaceful silences 
Forehead kisses 
Warm hugs
But loving someone
Is so much more

Taking turns
Bearing the weight 
Of your combined 
World – taking 
Turns as Atlas 
Being a north star
Guiding light
In the moments
Of darkness

Loving is to trust
Trust them to 
Catch you 
When you fall
Just as you 
Always catch 
Them 

Loving
Laughing
Living 
Easy things
In the sun 
Find the truth
In the dark
Depth of night

Loving 
The surface
Is easy
Loving 
The depths
Is lasting
