Writing Group: Poetry: The Weather

The prompt this week was a story or poem in which the weather played a key role. I wanted to play on It was a dark and stormy night but in a way that wasn’t spooky. How do you think I did? Let me know in the comments!

Wind whips, howling high
Branches tremble, leaves fly
Caught in downdrafts
Plastered to the ground by
Buckets of rain
Once cleansing
Now drowning

Those wise take shelter
Enjoying the warmth
Of a fire, of a cup of tea
A day that was meant
Meant to be busy
Now free of
Responsibility

Now a day to relax
A chance to browse
The To-Be-Reads
Finding that perfect
Vibe fitting book
A chance to curl up

Warm beneath
A favorite blanket
To take a load off
A chance to relax

This is a bit of cowboy poetry that I grew up listening to. When I heard this prompt it was what I first bit of inspiration that I thought of.
