Last winter I went hiking at Clear Creek Nature Heritage Center and I had been wanting to go back and see it when it is all green for a while now and I finally had a chance to go. It had rained that day, everything was bright and green and very muddy. It was worth the muddy shoes to get out into nature for a while.
I hiked a little over three miles. These trails are flat and easy, the only obstacle was all the mud puddles. So definitely more of a walk than a hike.

When I was here last winter, the benches in this clearing were falling apart and dangerous. These new benches where created as part of an Eagle Scout project. I don’t come across Eagle Scout projects too often but I’m always happy when I do as they are typically well done. I’ve seen directional signposts on hiking trails and one a restored train caboose at the Galveston Railroad Museum.
No matter where you live, I suggest finding your local hiking trails. It is good to get outside, listen to the birds and cicadas and exist intone with nature. Remember to leave no trace, safe hiking.
