By Hello fellow travelers. This is an odd post to write, however, planning, writing, editing, and post production of photos and videos takes a lot of time and energy. In an effort to offset some of my costs and to hopefully bring attention to environmental issues I’ve decided to start a Patreon.
What is Patreon?
Patreon is a way to join your favorite creator’s community and pay them for making the stuff you love. Instead of literally throwing money at your screen (trust us, that doesn’t work), you can now pay a few bucks per month or per post that a creator makes. For example, if you pay $2 per video, and the creator releases 3 videos in February, then your card gets charged a total of $6 that month. This means the creator gets paid regularly (every time she releases something new), and you become a bonafide, real-life patron of the arts. That’s right–Imagine you, in a long frilly white wig, painted on a 10-foot canvas on the wall of a Victorian mansion. And imagine your favorite creators making a living doing what they do best… because of you.
In addition to the Patreon helping offset my costs, I’ll be donating part of the proceeds to organizations that help to replant trees in deforested regions of the world. Many of my travels are in nature such as hiking, camping, and photography; I want to do what I can to make sure that nature, as a whole, is protected and revitalized.

This is the original service that I started using to help off-set some of my costs but I’m not able to give back like I want to, to my followers.

I have created a Patreon to give back to those that help support my creative endeavors.
Patreon Future
Right now, I understand that my Patreon is not offering as much as I would like it to but I do have some ideas for the future that I would love feedback on.
- Stickers – A future plan is to redo my logo and turn it into a sticker. Another future endeavor would be to find a local artist and have them turn a picture of Bear into a cartoon to made into stickers because everyone needs a travel buddy.
- Photo Prints: We take a lot of wonderful photos on our trips and I would love to offer either a mix postcard set or a single large print of one of our photos.
- Personalized Trip Itinerary: For higher level patrons I would love to offer a personalized trip itinerary similar to those on my Discover Texas series. The patron would pick where in the United States they want to go and I do the research for them for a long weekend trip. Note: actually booking the trip would be on the patron.

I have to be honest, I don’t have an interest in Patreon. So much going on in life helping friends who are sick with cancer, having trouble with jobs, etc. Cannot add something like this too. Good for you to explore revenue making options.

And that is understandable. My site is still going to be free as well as my videos. This is just a way for me to try and do this writing gig maybe a bit more full time. Thank you.

Of course! I think you need to explain what Patreon is, I heard about it LONG ago, but not since. On their site it says it is a membership… So, maybe explain that to your readers. if we can see you for FREE on WP, why would we pay a membership?
