Title: Beasts of Extraordinary Circumstance
Author: Ruth Emmie Long
Publication Date: 2017
Publishing House: St. Martin’s Press
I have been wanting to read this book for a while. It was a Book of the Month book that I decided to skip because my to read stack at the time was a bit taller than I preferred. Later when I went looking for a copy I could never find one. Keltin came across a copy and surprised me with it. Then it sat on my to read stack.
This book, though propelled along by extraordinary happenings, is about life and all the things we hold dear. Friendship, love in both the familial and the romantic, understanding and fear and bravery to accept all of those things.
One if my favorite things in the way that Long writes this text is the story of the main character Waylyn is told by those whose lives he touches. And each book is its own story in the course of the life of this amazing person. My other favorite thing is that this text awakens the love of wild things. Stars and trees, hurricanes and snow storms, forests and full moons, wolves and other woodland creatures.
To say that I loved this book is true not enough, the story wormed its way into my heart. It is still there, singing to me the song of the forest, wolf lullabies and storms. Recommended for those that love the unusual, lovers of magic and those that want to understand people a little bit better.

Adding it to the list! Just reading your review of it made my heart twinge. So looking forward to it making it’s mark on me as well.
