Paperback Perils: Favorite Books

Good morning! With Thanksgiving getting closer I have not had time to finish my book this week. So I thought that I wold talk about some of my favorite books.

Here are my rules:

  • If the book is part of a series I can only pick one
  • I’m not going to put these in a specific order because I can’t
  • Any genre is fare game
  • Any where from top three to five

The Hobbit – I have always been a Tolkien fan. I love his writing and I have always loved dragons. The idea of going away on an adventure and making new friends and getting into a bit a trouble seems wonderful. As much as I love The Lord of the Rings it doesn’t have the same lightness as parts of The Hobbit

Jurassic Park – This is my favorite Michael Crichton book and is the only one of his that I have read more than once. It is the science in this book that gets to me and the audacity of humanity to believe that they can control the creatures they created without trying to understand them first.

Wizard’s First Rule – This is the only Terry Goodkind book that I have read. I am perfectly aware that this is the first book in a series but I like the way this book ends, the way this book wraps things up. Thus, I have decided not to read the other. This book contains, magic, dragons, and monsters (both human and other things). This book is also about love and about understanding one’s self.

The Martian – I love this book for the science and for the sarcasm. This story of survival could be boring but its not. It could be depressing as hell but it is not. This book is about figuring out how to survive and keeping your spirit alive along the way.

I’m going to make this a tag. Tell me what your favorite books are and please tag me so that I don’t miss them. Have a great Monday.

  1. What a fun article!

I haven’t read any of these books, but always looking for new books to read.

I actually heard that Amazon is making a TV Series adaptation for Lord of the Rings. I haven’t heard about the air date yet, but I love TV, so I will definitely be tuning in.

I heard about The Martian movie with Matt Damon. I heard it’s a really good movie. I didn’t know it was based on a book. Definitely planning on adding that to my reading list and than watching the film.

Over the summer I read You by Caroline Kepnes in anticipation of the Lifetime TV Series adaptation. The book was very twisted and crazy but also really good at the same time. The TV adaptation was perfectly done. I just recently finished reading its sequel.

Other favorite books include Big Little Lies, The Girl on the Train, Sharp Objects, Sweetbitter, Everything I Never Told You.

Currently reading To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. Read about 130 pages so far and it’s really good!

    1. Thank you for reading! The Martian is actually really funny.

I’ve heard that Amazon is making the series also but that’s about all I know.

It looks like you read phycological thrillers. I’ve read The Girl on the Train and The Wife Between Us. Pretty good reads.

      1. I’ve heard about The Wife Between Us. I haven’t read that yet though. Another book to add to the reading list, LoL.

Yeah, after reading You and its sequel, I needed a break from the thriller reads for the moment, LoL. So I decided to change book genres for my next book read. Really liking To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. Hoping to check out the Netflix adaptation after.
