This last week’s prompt was a great way to start National Poetry month: the Ode. A poem of praise. There are a variety of different types of odes but being that we didn’t have a lot of time, I chose the contemporary or irregular ode.
Do you have a favorite type of ode? What would you write an ode to? Let me know in the comments!
Ode to Bear
O, wiggly one
With fur so gold
A shake, a shimmy
And there fur flies
O, wiggly one
With eyes of chocolate
With tongue of pink
How you drool
Spreading spay with a shake
O, wiggly one
A flop of ears, so expressive
Flip, flap, flop
In the wind or on a walk
Or with an inch
Damn seasonal allergies
O, wiggly one
How I adore
Puppy croissants
Wagging tails
Tiniest of mlems
Muddiest of paws
O, wiggly one
My tiny traitor
Who shadows his father
Instead of his mother
Though I’m the one
That sprang you from jail
O, wiggly one
My silly one
My drool monster
My goblin
My Bear
