2024 Texas State Fair

The Texas State Fair is almost over but of course we had to visit and try a ridiculous amount of fair food (check out the short video below). We had a ton of fun trying new things and looking at the exhibits, seriously those artisans that enter quilts, handmade clothes, and other art are ridiculously talented.

A weird thing about me is that as an adult, I don’t feel the need to ride any of the midway rides but I love walking through the midway. There is something about the lights, the carnival sounds, the chaos that just makes me happy. I love seeing the ridiculously large stuffed animals that people have won and are now trying to carry through a crowed without hitting anyone. There is a wild energy to a midway that I enjoy.

The Texas State Fair fairgrounds are fantastically art deco. I love every bit of it. They started building Fair Park sometime is 1936 and even if everything isn’t perfect the whole area is still so pretty. Some of the art deco pieces can be seen below. The original Cotton Bowl stadium is located at Fair Park. This is where the Red River Rivalry game is played. Texas might have beaten OU badly this year. Sorry OU.

Do you go to your state’s state fair? Let me know in the comments! Safe travels.

See all the fair food we sampled.

(Yes, I ate way too much, but it was so good.)
