Writing Group: Poetry: Daily Chaos

The prompt this week was movement. This little poem is a moment that all pet owners can probably relates to, that moment when your pet gets ahold of something they probably should not eat. I hope you enjoy this bit of everyday chaos while I go crawl back into my editing hole.

I see you sniffing,
I see you grab something
From across the room
Something that we both know
You should not be eating.
Drop it!

My voice is loud
I see the look on
Your little face
You think this is a game
Zoom zoom zoom
Zoomies, shit
Come here!

Apparently the floor
Is ALSO lava.
Stop vaulting
From the couch!
How? How
Are you chewing
While also being a
Demon of chaos?
I swear…

Success!
You are in my grasp,
Caught your collar, sucker
Pinned between my knees
Prying, prying open jaws
Jaws that are still chewing
Give it to me!
Don’t bite me!
No, instead its drool
Why is there so much drool?

That’s just, ewww…
Don’t you dare swallow!
Give it here!
Fuck, you swallowed
Of course you did.
Well, let’s hope it isn’t poisonous.
