Welcome back to Kansas! After visiting Mount Sunflower out in Wallace County Kansas, we stopped in for a visit at the Fort Wallace Museum. We have been to a rather large number small regional museums but this one takes the cake. We spent so longer wondering the galleries and the staff were great and answered all of our questions.
There is a small rest stop at the museum with picnic tables. In addition to the main building there are 4 other buildings that are part of the museum with additional history and exhibits. The museum is free to visit but they do accept donations and have a gift shop that supports the museum. The Fort Wallace Museum also has a small research library. I didn’t have time to look at the type of books but they are probably regional. If you are looking for information on Wallace County, check out this museum first!

We really enjoyed this museum and there is so much more to it that is not shown in the video. I had to cut so much out. This museum may be out in the middle of nowhere western Kansas but it is definitely worth a visit. Safe travels, leave no trace and I’ll see you in the next adventure.
