Weekend Wanderings: Dallas Mavericks Game: Star Wars Day

This post I’ve been slow to write, not because I didn’t enjoy it, I just haven’t had the time. I work for a fairly small company where everyone knows everyone, including the owner. He has season tickets to the Dallas Mavericks. For those of you who don’t know, the Mavs are one of the two NBA teams in Texas; the other is the Houston Rockets. Anyway, if the owner of the company I work for can’t make it to a game he offers them to anyone in the office and I managed to snag a pair for a Saturday game.

The Mavs played the LA Clippers in Dallas at the American Airlines Center. I managed to get these tickets on a Friday afternoon. I call Keltin before I even leave work and he was super excited because he had never been to a Mavs home game. We get to the game the next day and realize that it is Star Wars Day in celebration of Star Wars: The Last Jedi release. There is people in costume from many of the movies. I know I saw a General Leia, a Kylo Ren, and a Darth Maul. Darth Vader and Stormtroopers even on the court before the game.

The game itself was great. Dirk Nowitzki is celebrating 20 seasons with the Dallas Mavs and they actually won! Final score was 108-82. I don’t follow basketball at all but even I know that the Mavs have not had a stellar year, so being there for a win was a lot of fun.
