Utah: Trip Preparation

One comment

A trip like this takes a lot of preparation. So much preparation in fact that I made two videos about it.

This first video covers a gear prep overnight trip that my sister and I took to iron out any issues with our tack and expose the mules to a different environment before the Utah trip.

This second video is more of a reflection video I did after we got back from Utah. This really looks at all the things we had to do before hand and all the gear and equipment we needed to pack.

Final Thoughts

This trip was a lot of work and I’d do it again. Beautiful does not begin to describe this country. It is awe inspiring. And it’s breathtaking but that’s mostly because the switchbacks are killer. This country is dangerous too. You are out there with little to no cell service on 1000 pound animals. The animal can spook, inclement weather events can occur, wildlife can cause issues, or the terrain. Taking this trip we had to be vigilante, we had to be careful. It was worth it though. Every moment in the saddle, every view was worth the time and the effort it took us to get there.
