A Drabble is a story of 100 words. I selected this as a prompt to work on concise writing. If you remember the Flash Fiction from a few weeks back my plan was to use that as a starting point for this piece. Some group members used it, some didn’t and that’s okay.
We all start as a spark, a small bright innocent point in the vastness. Some sparks are fed, some are snuffed out. Protect your brightness, grow, let the actions of the world fan your flame so that you can burn. My story is one of heat, of light. I burned bright. I burned hot. I lived, reaching for my dreams, reaching for the stars blazing in the heavens. Take heed, I grew too hot, too big too fast. I lost control of my fire, taking down everything in my path. The loss was not worth the pain. Learn from me.

At the Maryland Writers’ Conference last year, the drabble came up at one workshop I attended, and I wrote one myself.
