The prompt this week was to pull color swatches and write a story or poem using those colors and/or the names of the colors in the story. The colors that I pulled were named: Hunt Club (dark green), Turkish Coffee (rich brown), and Framboise (deep magenta).
In other news, if you are curious as to the update on my manuscript rewrite I’m on chapter seven with a ton of new scenes that I have written to plug in later.
I hope you enjoy this short poem. Happy writing.
Ripening under the sun
White flowers to
Green clusters of premature
Fruits, hidden among
Leaves of deepest
Verdant green
Shade so deep a hunter
Uses it to melt in shadows
Berries swell in summer rains
Hanging from thin branches
Rich in shade as the strongest
Turkish coffee, climbing
Climbing, stretching towards
That life giving sun
Birds of a feather flock
Searching for those clusters
Honeyed and enticing
Deepening from lightest pink
To vibrant purple to stain the hands
The lips, as greedy fingers pluck
Framboise, raspberries from depths
Limbs scratched, protective thorns
Brilliant life blood clashing
Against sickly sweet fruit juice
Turning cloying
Under unrelenting heat of the sun

Color acts like punctuation marks in nature. Love prose, Laci.
