Originally we did not have a wine tasting on our to do list for Niagara Falls. However, due to flight times we flew in a day earlier than we had initially planned. We already had a big falls tour scheduled with Niagara Regional Tours and my sister talked to them to get a winery tour schedule for or extra day.
Our hotel was on the Canadian side of the river because that side has the best falls but a lot of our tours were in the US. To get to Niagara Falls State Park in New York State we had to cross the Rainbow Bridge. It costs $1 in quarters to get through going from Canada to the US. Yes, you will need to present your passport to get through border patrol on either side of the bridge. Tip: do a passport check for every member of your group before crossing.
We had the same tour guide for the winery and the falls tours and she was a wealth of information. Honestly, I would love a haunted tour of the area. As we were going to the different vineyards our guide was telling us about all the different ghosts that are supposed to haunt the area.
Wineries
- Bella Rose Winery – They have ice wine and Concord grape wine. Yes, it’s like Welches Grape Juice with alcohol.
- Victorianbourg Wine Estate – do the chocolate truffle pairing and sit outside to enjoy the vines and the flowers.
- Schulze Vineyards & Winery – This winery had some good reds and a we played a lot of giant Jenga.
- The Winery at Marjim Manor – This winery is haunted. Yes, the story is part of the tasting. And the manor is looks like some place that would be haunted.
This was a long day of wine tasting but it was so much fun. We got to see some of the countryside, we got to see Lake Erie for a bit. The lake is so massive. All-in-all a great way to start a trip. What do you think of the New York state away from the lights of the big apple? Let me know in the comments, safe travels.
