Valencia: Tapas

The Spanish eat dinner later than we typically do here in the states and they eat less. And in Valencia, at least, they typically have a pre-dinner drink. My little sister found this bar call the Ubik Cafe. In addition to having good drinks, the walls are covered in used books. I did look for a book here but unfortunately, none of the ones that were in English held any interest for me. That being said it was great to be surrounded by books.

After drinks we had intended to try a Cuban restaurant but they said they required a reservation. We were starving after having walked all day and came across a little tapas bar; I’m not even sure of the name of the restaurant. We ended up sharing the baba ganoush and an order of the beef cheek with papas. It may not look good but it was some of the best food we had in Valencia. I don’t even know how that happens. Sometimes a meal just hits right. We about froze sitting outside at this little bar in February.

Have you ever found a surprising good meal somewhere? Let me know in the comments. Safe travels!

  1. When I was on a study tour in France, the bread there was delicious. The other students and I ate it up every time. Also, I remember having a nice Caesar salad for lunch on my free day in Paris. Dinner was steak, possibly filet mignon, that night.
