By We do not get to hike at the Forth Worth Nature Center and Refuge as often as we would like, this beautiful park has a number of hiking trails for all skill levels. I had the opportunity to hike there once in 2019 and then Covid hit and I didn’t get to introduce Keltin to the wonderful park until January of this year. During Covid reservations were required but they appear to have opened up more since then. Which is nice because the website to buy tickets is cumbersome to use to say the least.
Admission is $6 for Adults, $2 for Children up to 12 years old. Dogs are welcome on a leash but there is a $1 entry fee for them also. There aren’t many trash cans at the nature center, I suggest having a way to store trash until you leave. There are some restrooms at the trailheads.
We hiked the Canyon Ridge trail. It is 3.25 miles both ways with some good elevation gain for the region. There are the remains of some CCC structures that were build during the depression. These are great photo stops that also provide fantastic views of the surrounding area.
We can’t wait to get back to the Fort Worth Nature Center, next time we want to try the Crosstimbers loop trail. What are your favorite local trails? Let me know in the comments!

Love the saddlebags that Bear is wearing, brilliant idea. A hike on the Canyon Ridge Trail sounds wonderful though, really like the name.

He is okay with wearing the pack but it takes a bit for him to get accustomed to the weight. He gets to carry his water and dog bags.
