Short story time.
I’m halfway through my two mile run on the back half of a nature preserve. And what comes scuttling across the path… a giant freaking tarantula.
Me: please don’t let it chase me.
I don’t like spiders and I’ve heard about tarantulas doing that. Spoiler: I don’t think he noticed me as I sprinted past.
Me to the next person on the trail: there is a tarantula chilling on the path just around the bend.
Old man: oh! I just saw another on farther back.
Me: there are more!?
I then spent the rest of the run thinking every dark spot I saw on the path was another giant freaking hairy spider. Thankful I saw no others.
Yikes! That’s one thing we don’t have here in the Pacific Northwest. It’s a good thing – I may never go out! 😉

It’s the first one I’ve seen at this nature preserve. I could have done without it.

They say periodic sprinting is good for fitness. Think how helpful the occasional tarantula in the trail might be for your run times….
