China: Shanghai Skylines and Embroidery: March 2016

Hey all, I hope you are having a good week so far. I hope you are ready to explore more of China.

From the Yuyuan Gardens and the silk shop we headed over to see a fantastic view of the Shanghai skyline. I know the local tour guide was giving us all shorts of interesting information but we were all being silly and just taking a ton of pictures.

From the view of the city we head over and got to see silk used in a much different way than the scarves and ties from earlier – though no less beautiful. They create pictures out of silk embroidery. I’ve see a lot of really neat art both in China and in other countries but the embroidery was some of the most amazing. There were some pieces where you could barely see the stitches. Definitely one of my favorite things. Just take a minute and admire the beauty of the works pictured below.

Now I haven’t talked about the food in China for a while but after the embroidery shop we enjoyed lunch. Most of the food we were fairly accustomed too but there was a soup that had what I think were balls made of sticky rice with a paste center of some sort but they looked like eyeballs. My awesome friend let me take a video of her eating one and is even more awesome for allowing me to post the video.

What is the weirdest thing you have ever eaten? What weird food do you want to try? There is more Shanghai to come, this day was jam packed full. Have a great rest of your day.
